How MTM have adapted during 2020 and how it effects you in 2021

During these unprecedented times we want to assure our customers we are taking their safety, and the safety of our staff, very seriously; both in our tiling operations and our showroom.

Here are some of the ways that we have changed our approach as a company to limit the risk of spreading or contracting COVID-19.

Tiling Operations

We have put together a detailed risk assessment which we will be following at all times.

We will formulate a plan with each customer prior to commencing work to ensure everyone's safety.

To keep everyone as safe as possible, we are adopting the following practices when working:

  • We will always be wearing the appropriate PPE and will    frequently wash our hands or use antibacterial solution.

  • Social distancing will always be adhered to.

  • We will contact you 20-30 mins before arriving in order for you to get ready for us.

  • We will contact you once we are outside in order to allow contactless entry and to discuss anything you wish to before we enter your premises.

  • We will be minimising the touching of contact points i.e. door handles banisters etc. and cleaning these regularly with antibacterial wipes if this can’t be avoided.

  • We will be using a temporary door wherever possible - This is a thick polyethene door that has a zip in it. It is used as a see-through protective screen which will enable you to see and communicate with the tiler during the work whilst still maintaining a safe distance, and being protected from any airborne particles. It also has the advantage of limiting the amount of dust outside the room (NO cutting will be conducted that will produce significant amounts of dust, but refers to general sweeping up etc.).

  • We will bring our own food and drink and will be self-sufficient in this respect.

  • We will not be sharing our tools during this time and will be working solo.

  • We will not accept help with loading or unloading any materials in or out in order to minimise risk.

  • We can communicate via phone or text (if preferred) when we need to ask you something or to let you know we have finished etc.; where a temporary door/screen is in place, we can communicate safely this way also.

  • We will discuss individual plans and procedures in the days leading up to us commencing work on your project and may put other measures in place or adapt our plan to incorporate your wishes if it is safe to do so.

We must stress, our client’s safety and the safety of our employees will always be at the forefront of all decisions made going forward. This also includes the potential of having to close the business at short notice again if the government advises.

Showroom Operations

We have adopted a booking system for the showroom in hourly slots from 09:30 - 15:30 Monday to Friday and 10:00 - 13:00 Saturday.

You can book a showroom viewing here, or contact us via phone or email.

To keep everyone as safe as possible, we will talk you through our guidelines and safety measures to keep yourself and our staff safe before you browse. These measures are not designed to restrict you and will not detract from the shopping experience.

We ask that you follow our guidelines and safety measures at ALL times.

Below is a summary of the measures we have implemented and expect you to follow:

  • We will always be wearing the appropriate PPE and will frequently wash our hands or use antibacterial solution.

  • PPE will be provided for your use such as, disposable gloves and antibacterial wipes.

  • Social distancing will always be adhered to.

  • The showroom will be cleaned before and after each visitor.

  • We will be minimising the touching of contact points i.e. door handles banisters etc. and cleaning these regularly with antibacterial wipes if this can’t be avoided.

  • Many of our display tiles are loose and not fixed to boards, however, those that are can be viewed from a distance by asking one of our staff - this reduces the number of people touching these displays and therefore contamination risk.

  • Handled tile samples will be isolated and removed for cleaning, allowing you to enjoy our showroom's browsing experience in an as normal and safe manner as possible.

  • If you wish to view grout & trim options, a staff member can present charts to you from a distance and shall handle demonstration swatches to illustrate your options.

We must stress, our client’s safety and the safety of our employees, will always be at the forefront of all decisions made going forward. This also includes the potential of having to close the business at short notice again if the government advises.

We will still be allowing the option to borrow samples and you will still be able to place orders with us with contactless collection from the rear of the showroom. Any payments will be made over the phone prior to collection and an invoice sent to your email.
